How to Connect MCP Server to ChatGPT

Step-by-step setup to give ChatGPT access to your Seller Assistant account

The Seller Assistant MCP Server can be added to ChatGPT as a custom plugin. Once it is connected, you can ask ChatGPT to work with your Seller Assistant data in plain language.

Note

Adding a custom plugin requires Developer mode, which ChatGPT marks as elevated risk because it lets you add connectors that OpenAI has not reviewed. You will see that warning during setup.

Adding Plugin

  1. Open ChatGPT settings and go to Security and login section.

  2. Switch Developer mode on – this is necessary to create a custom plugin.

  3. Open Plugins in the side menu and click the "plus" button in the top right.

  4. Fill in the New Plugin form:

    • Add connector's name and paste the MCP server URL below:

      https://mcp.sellerassistant.app/mcp
    • Choose OAuth authentication. The OAuth settings are discovered automatically, so you do not need to fill them in by hand.

  5. Read the warning about custom MCP servers, tick "I understand and want to continue", and click "Create".

  6. Click "Sign in with Seller Assistant".

  7. Allow access through your Seller Assistant account.

ChatGPT will be able to access and manage your data – products, inventory, suppliers, listings and more – and use the MCP server. You can revoke access at any time.

Using Plugin

The plugin appears in your Plugins list. Open it and click "Try in chat", or start a new conversation and ask for something from your account.

Once enabled, type your request in natural language. ChatGPT will call Seller Assistant in the background and return the result directly in the chat.
