Profitability settings

Refund date vs order date, inbound placement fees, VAT, and Supplier in the SKU

Profitability settings control how Seller Assistant counts refunds, inbound fees and VAT, and how it reads the supplier from a SKU name.

Note

Profitability is in Beta. Preview on Pro; access is guaranteed on Business / Business Plus.

Open them from the gear next to Help on Overview, P&L or Payouts, or go to Settings › Profitability in your Seller Assistant account.

Refunds are counted on

Choose when a refund enters the period:

  • Refund date (default) - the day Amazon posted the refund.

  • Order date - the day of the original order.

A change recalculates your whole history. Overview stays unavailable while that rebuild runs.

Count inbound placement fees

Turn this on when inbound placement (and related transportation) fees should appear in Profitability.

Turn it off when your landed product cost already includes those fees, so they are not counted twice.

VAT

VAT options appear only on a marketplace that uses VAT. Set the scheme that matches how you sell on that marketplace. Optional rate overrides belong here when the page shows them.

Supplier in the SKU

This setting tells Overview and P&L how to pick the supplier for a SKU when they group or filter by supplier.

  • Off (default) - supplier comes from the SKU's current cost (the purchase order line, or the product's default supplier). Otherwise the row is Unknown supplier.

  • Supplier code at the start - if the SKU begins with a saved supplier code (then a space, hyphen or underscore), that supplier is used.

  • Supplier name at the start - if the SKU begins with a saved supplier name (then a space, hyphen or underscore), that supplier is used.

A click saves the choice. The grouped table, the scope filter and the scope picker all use the same rule.

Do it with AI

These settings are changed in the UI. There is no MCP tool that writes them.

To read profit, costs, P&L or payouts with an AI agent, use Overview, P&L or Payouts with Seller Assistant MCP (Business and higher). To set missing product costs through an agent, use the cost prompts on Profitability overview in Seller Assistant (confirm before any cost is written). Ready prompts: Prompts for Seller Assistant MCP.
